Police make arrest after theft from motor vehicles in Ballarat, Moorabool and Melbourne CBD

Police have arrested a man following a series of alleged theft from motor vehicles in the Ballarat, Moorabool and Melbourne CBD areas.

Ballarat Divisional Response Unit and the Melbourne Tasking Unit executed a series of search warrants in Ballarat this morning and located a number of stolen goods, stolen vehicles, car parts and cash.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at a property on Maree Street in Wendouree about 7.30am and remains in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.

Police are continuing to investigate a number of theft from motor vehicle and attempted theft from motor vehicle offences over the past month in the Ballarat area.

These incidents occurred in Wendouree, Ballarat and Ballan railway stations as well as car parks in Lake Wendouree.

Superintendent Jenny Wilson said police were investigating 27 vehicles that were broken into in Ballarat overnight on Monday 27 May.

"Police have identified a number of persons of interest and are continuing to make enquiries," she said.

"These individuals are encouraged to hand themselves into police."

Police are reminding the community not to leave valuables in cars.
