Police make arrest after Thornlie crash

Major Crash Investigators have charged a 23-year old man after a serious traffic crash that occurred in Thornlie on Tuesday, 7 May 2019.

It is alleged about 6.20pm, the man was driving a Honda Accord along Spencer Road in Thornlie when at the intersection of Grenadier Street, he collided with a Mitsubishi Magna sedan that was travelling south along Spencer Road.

The 35-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Honda and his 26-year-old female passenger were also taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The 23-year-old man from Thornlie has been charged with:-

• Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police;

• Dangerous Driving Causing Grievous Bodily Harm – in Circumstances of Aggravation;

• Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (Circumstance of Aggravation); and

• No Authority to Drive.

A bedside hearing took place today and he has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on 17 May 2019.
