Police Make Arrest - Aggravated Assault In Katherine 15 September

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 12-year-old male after an incident in Katherine on Friday afternoon.

Around 1:45pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports that a 12-year-old male had allegedly produced an edged weapon during an altercation with another student at a high school on Grevillea Road. The school was subsequently placed into lockdown.

It is alleged the male swung the weapon toward a 14-year-old student known to him before school staff intervened and safely disarmed him and contacted police.

There were no reported injuries during the incident.

Police attended and arrested the 12-year-old offender. He has been charged aggravated assault and Going armed in public and was bailed to appear in Court 26 September 2025.

Superintendent Warren Scott said, "Police take matters of this nature very seriously and will continue facilitating proactive measures, such as wanding operations, to help keep the community safe."
