Police make arrest - Aggravated Assault in Katherine

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 34-year-old male in relation to an alleged aggravated assault which occurred in Katherine in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to a disturbance at a unit complex in Katherine East at about 4:20am this morning. Upon arrival, a 30-year-old female was located with suspected stab wounds to the chest. She was conveyed to Katherine Hospital where she received medical treatment. Once her condition has stabilised she will be transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital for further treatment.

A crime scene was established at the location and a 34-year-old male was taken into custody.

Investigations are continuing and charges are expected to be laid later this today.
