Police Make Arrest - Aggravated Robbery In Darwin 14 February

A 23-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly live-streaming a robbery at a convenience store in Darwin's CBD yesterday evening.

About 6.17pm NT Police received reports that a male was behind the counter of a store on the corner of Smith and Knuckey Streets, threatening staff and demanding money.

It is alleged the offender was live streaming the incident on a social media platform.

General Duties members responded quickly and located and arrested the male a short distance away.

During the arrest the offender advised police that he was in possession of an unloaded, small firearm.

The offender was subsequently found to be in possession of the small firearm as well as a quantity of stolen cash, a quantity of ammunition and the mobile phone he allegedly used to broadcast the incident.

The offender remains in police custody and CCTV footage has been obtained as part of the ongoing investigation.
