Police Make Arrest - Assault In Alice Springs 9 March

The NT Police Force has arrested a 16-year-old female in relation to an attempted robbery and assault that occurred earlier this morning in Alice Springs.

Around 5:45am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a female youth had allegedly assaulted a worker whilst attempting to steal a vehicle from a business on the Stuart Highway in Braitling.

It is alleged the offender entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away. A worker intervened to prevent the theft and during the altercation the offender allegedly bit the worker on the arm.

Police attended and the 16-year-old allegedly spat in the face of one of the officers whilst being taken into custody.

The worker and the police officer did not require medical attention.

The 16-year-old remains in police custody with charges expected to follow.
