Northern Territory Police have arrested a female youth who is alleged to have robbed an elderly woman before committing a string of criminal and traffic offences across Alice Springs.
At 11:30am on Tuesday at a Hartley Street carpark, it is alleged the youth stole a handbag from a 77-year-old woman before fleeing the area.
Later that day, police received multiple reports of a gold Suzuki Vitara vehicle being driven recklessly in and around the CBD area.
Officers observed and approached the vehicle on Schwartz Crescent where it is alleged the vehicle swerved to hit the police vehicle before driving off in a dangerous manner.
Police received multiple reports involving the vehicle, including dangerous and reckless driving throughout Tuesday night.
At 7am on Wednesday 26 January, a taxi driving south of Alice Springs had its front window rocked by two female youths standing in the middle of the road.
The driver, who was struck in the neck by the rock, stopped the vehicle at which point one of the offenders entered the taxi and stole cash and items from within.
Investigations continue into the robbery of a 27-year-old heavily pregnant woman near a shopping complex at 9am yesterday.
The victim was walking towards Railway Terrace when she was approached by two female youths who asked for money before they forcefully pushed the victim to the ground and assaulted her, stealing her phone and purse. A bystander intervened and the offenders dropped the purse and fled into an awaiting vehicle.
The victim was shaken from the assault, but did not suffer any serious injuries.
Later that day the gold Suzuki Vitara vehicle was involved in a single vehicle crash on Whittaker Street and the occupants fled the scene.
Investigations led to the arrest of the 16-year-old female, who was taken back to the Alice Springs Watch House where she remains in custody.
