Police make arrest over armed robbery, Earlville

Cairns detectives have arrested and charged a man following an alleged armed robbery in Earlville yesterday afternoon (January 24).

It will be alleged around 2.30pm, a man entered the takeaway food store in Mulgrave Road and waited for the customers to leave.

It is further alleged that once the store was empty, the man threatened the staff member with a knife and demanded cash.

The man fled the store a short time later with a quantity of cash.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Around 9.15pm, police arrested a 30-year-old Manoora man who was charged with one count of robbery whilst armed.

He will appear in the Cairns Magistrates court today.
