Police make arrest over stolen scooter - Pooraka, South Australia

A man has been arrested after he was found riding a stolen Yamaha scooter at Pooraka overnight.

Police will allege, on Sunday 10 January, the scooter owner advertised the black Yamaha scooter for sale on a social media site. Just before 9.30pm last night the suspect attended the owners address at Klemzig handing the owner an envelope he stated contained the cash. Before the owner could open the envelope and count the money the male suspect took off on the 125cc scooter.

Just before 1.30am this morning ( Monday 11 January) a Golden Grove plain police patrol spotted a man riding the stolen black scooter on Research Road at Pooraka. They watched the scooter for a short distance before the male rider dumped the bike at the Parafield Gardens shopping centre near kings Road and ran off.

Police patrols gave chase and apprehended the male a short distance away.

The 29-year-old man from Ridgehaven has been arrested and charged with illegal use and driving while disqualified.

He has been bailed to appear in court at a later date. The scooter has been returned to the rightful owner.
