Police make arrest - Ram raid in Alice Springs

Strike Force Viper has arrested a 34 year old man in relation to a ram raid on a bottle shop in Alice Springs earlier this week.

Around 7:30am on Sunday 24 July, a 34 year old man caused significant property damage to a business after driving a vehicle into the roller doors of a drive-thru bottle-shop on Leichardt Terrace.

The man then entered the premises through the damaged roller doors where it is further alleged he stole a quantity of alcohol before driving away from the scene.

Investigations undertaken by Strike Force Viper identified the man who was located in a shopping centre in the Alice Springs CBD area late yesterday.

The man was taken to the Alice Springs Watch House and later charged one count each of Aggravated unlawful entry - building, Damage to property, Stealing, Drive manner dangerous, Drive unlicensed.

The man was remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Local court today.
