POLICE MOTORBIKE RAMMED - COBURG

Police have arrested and charged a man following an attempted evade in Coburg yesterday, Victoria Police say.

The State Highway Patrol Solo Unit attempted to intercept a motorbike, allegedly bearing false plates, in Bell St about 12.40pm on 9 June.

The man, riding a black Suzuki motorbike, rammed a police motorcycle in an attempt to avoid apprehension. The man lost control of his motorbike before running from members.

Police chased the man on foot along Bell Street and arrested him a short distance away.

The police motorbike received minor damage from the incident however, no one was injured.

The 30-year-old Donvale man was interviewed by police and charged with conduct endangering person, evade police, assault/resist police, driving under the influence of drugs, drive whilst disqualified and other property and traffic offences.

He was remanded to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 15 June.
