Police Nab Suspect After Stolen Car Tracked in Adelaide

A teenage boy was arrested while allegedly driving a stolen car on Sunday afternoon.

At 5.45pm on Sunday 1 March, police received reports of a silver Toyota Camry being driven erratically on Main Road, Belair.

Checks confirmed the vehicle had been stolen earlier that day from Mawson Lakes and had been involved in a subsequent collision and petrol drive offs across metropolitan Adelaide.

Patrols tracked the vehicle across multiple suburbs before road spikes were successfully deployed on Main North Road, Prospect.

The vehicle came to a stop nearby where the alleged driver, a 15-year-old boy from Munno Para West, tried to flee on foot but was quickly arrested.

He was charged with several offences including breach of bail, illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving unlicensed, making off without payment and traffic-related offences. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court later today (Monday 2 March).

The Toyota was towed from the scene for forensic examination.

Anyone with witnessed this vehicle driving across Adelaide or has dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or free call 1800 333 000.
