Police Officer Assaulted In Pulteney Street

A police officer was assaulted during an arrest on Pulteney Street overnight.

Police were called to a fast-food restaurant on Pulteney Street, Adelaide just before 11.30pm on Wednesday 28 January as a man was refusing to leave and causing a disturbance.

It will be alleged the man then jumped the counter and assaulted three of the restaurant employees.

When confronted by police, the man immediately punched a police officer and, while being restrained, bit him on the ear.

The 23-year-old man from Bridgewater was arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, three counts of assault, assault police and resist arrest. He will likely appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

The fast-food workers were not injured but were shaken by the incident.

The police officer required medical treatment for facial injuries.
