Three officers of the Northern Territory Police Force were allegedly assaulted overnight while responding to a call for assistance.
It is alleged that while the officers were escorting a 19-year-old female to a police vehicle, the female kicked a male officer to the groin and later kicked a female officer at the Tennant Creek Watch House.
The alleged offender had also thrown glass at the officers prior to being placed in the vehicle, with the glass shattering over the officers' legs.
Superintendent of Tennant Creek Police Tanya Mace said that it is never acceptable to assault a member of the police.
"These men and women are responsible for ensuring the safety of our fellow community members and it is deplorable when they are physically and verbally assaulted in their attempts to keep others safe.
"Luckily these two officers did not require medical treatment, but that does not lessen the nature of the offence.
"We want our officers to return home to their loved ones, as any member of the public is entitled to do."
The female was charged with three counts of assault police and one count of disorderly behaviour in a police station. She has been bailed to appear before the Tennant Creek Local Court in February.
