Police probe after fatal house fire in Shoalhaven

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after the death of a man in a house fire at Greenwell Point this morning, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 6.30am today, officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command were called to Greenwell Point Road after reports of a fire.

Emergency services found a home on the street to be well alight and two people were reported to be unaccounted for.

Fire-fighters from Fire & Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service were able to extinguish the blaze however the first floor premises were extensively damaged.

A subsequent search of the home located the body of a 70-year-old man, while a woman who also resides at the premises, was located in Sydney.

The fire does not appear to be suspicious.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner outlining the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
