Police probe after pedestrian fatally hit in Brookvale

An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was fatally hit by a truck in Brookvale this morning, NSW Police say.

About 8.50am today, a woman believed to be aged in her 60s, was crossing the street at Pittwater Road, when she collided with a heavy vehicle travelling north along the same road.

Emergency services were called; however the pedestrian died at the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Northern Beaches Local Area Command and Crash Investigation Unit are at the scene and will investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Traffic diversions are in place, and roads are expected to be closed for a number of hours.
