Police are investigating an alleged assault at a Sydney shopping centre today, NSW Police say.
Just before 2pm today, emergency services were called to a shopping centre on Bay Street, Broadway.
A man had been detained by security officers after allegedly stealing from a store in the centre. While restraining the man, a security officer suffered a cut to his finger.
Officers from Leichhardt Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.
The man was arrested and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for assessment.
The security officer was also taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
