Police probe child approach in Cessnock

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District are appealing for information after two young girls were approached in Cessnock earlier this week.

Just before 3:30pm on Tuesday (11 September 2018), two girls aged 10 and 11 were walking along Ferguson Street, when a utility pulled up alongside them, NSW Police say.

The driver attempted to speak to the girls, however feeling threatened by the man, they ran home where they reported the incident to their parents.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 40s, with grey receding hair, and a grey goatee beard.

He was sighted wearing rectangular reading glasses with tinted lenses and a grey t-shirt.

The vehicle is described as a silver two door utility with a hard cover on the tray.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
