Police probe crash in Alexandria

Police are investigating a crash involving two cars and two pedestrians in Sydney’s inner east, NSW Police say.

Just after 12pm today, a 55-year-old man was driving a silver Honda Civic along Henderson Road, Alexandria.

As the vehicle neared Park Street, Alexandria, it will be alleged the Honda Civic has struck a stationary white Hino truck and two pedestrians.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated a 30-year-old man and 25-year-old man at the scene before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

The 30-year-old man received minor injuries.

The 25-year-old man is awaiting surgery for fractures to his legs.

The 55-year-old man attempted to flee the scene and after a short pursuit, was caught by a number of witnesses.

Police conducted search of the man and allegedly found him to be in possession of heroin.

He was taken to hospital to undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers attached to Redfern Local Area Command with the assistance of Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

The 55-year-old man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
