Police Probe Crash on Southern Outlet, Kingston

Police are investigating a crash on the Southern Outlet at Kingston this morning involving a truck and a bus.

About 7.30am, police responded to reports of a crash involving a private bus with 30 passengers on board and a Scania truck with a trailer laden with quarry materials.

At this stage in the investigation, it is believed the Scania truck crashed into the rear of the bus as it stopped suddenly to avoid a collision with another vehicle.

A number of people sustained what are believed to be non-serious injuries.

Five people were transported by Ambulance by the Royal Hobart Hospital.

A further 12 people were transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital by an alternate private bus organised by the company owner who was on-site.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has information that would assist the investigation.
