Police probe fatal pedestrian crash in Caringbah

Police are investigating after a woman died when she was hit by a truck in Caringbah this morning, NSW Police say.

About 7.40am, emergency services were called to The Kingsway, near the intersection of Port Hacking Road, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a 26-year-old Illawong woman was hit by a prime mover as she was crossing The Kingsway and died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing.

The driver of the prime mover, a 59-year-old Illawong man, was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory blood and urine analysis.

The Kingsway was closed eastbound for a number of hours while investigations took place.

Police from the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
