Police probe fire in Gymea

A man is in hospital after a fire broke out at a Gymea property early this morning, NSW Police say.

Just after 1.30am tomorrow, emergency services were called to San Remo Avenue, following reports a granny flat was on fire.

A 39-year-old man was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition, suffering extensive burns to his body.

Police attached to Sutherland Police Area Command attended and have established a crime scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
