Police have launched an investigation following the alleged assault of a man in Sydney’s greater west, NSW Police say.
Just after 2pm yesterday, today, a man and woman walked toward a bus stop on Northumberland Street, Liverpool, when they came across 51-year-old man lying on the ground.
The pair, concerned for the man’s welfare, tried to wake him up.
It will be alleged the man became aggressive and an argument began.
Police have been told an unknown man became involved in the argument, allegedly punching the 51-year-old man in head, causing him to fall to the ground.
The unknown man continued to allegedly punch and kick the 51-year-old man.
NSW Ambulance Paramedics arrived and treated the 51-year-old man at the scene before taking him to Liverpool Hospital.
His injuries are unknown at this stage.
Officers attached to Liverpool Local Area Command arrived and established a crime scene.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
