Police probe home invasion in Villawood

An investigation has commenced following a home invasion in Sydney’s south-west overnight, NSW Police say.

About 7.45pm (Monday 29 October 2018), a 63-year-old man – and sole occupant – of a home on Alcoomie Street, Villawood, walked outside to move his car.

The occupant saw a white/beige hatchback pull up outside his home and saw three men get out.

The men were armed with a shortened double-barrel shotgun, a hand-gun and a knife.

Two of the men ran towards the occupant while the third man ran to the rear of his property.

The occupant was threatened by the men and taken to the backyard where he was pushed to the ground and held at gun-point while two men ransacked his home.

The men stole a gold watch, a gold ring and a packet of cigarettes before running from the location.

The occupant, who was not injured, called police and an investigation is now underway by detectives from Bankstown Police Area Command.

Anyone who may have information that may assist with their inquiries should contact Bankstown Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
