Police Probe Nail-Gun Attack, Robbery in Tamworth

Police are appealing for information after a man was shot multiple times with a nail gun at a property in the state's northeast on the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a home on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth, shortly before 11pm Saturday 20 June 2026, with reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District arrived and found a man in his 40s with nail gun wounds to his face, chest and hand.

The man was taken to Tamworth Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics for treatment of a fractured skull, lacerations to his head, and puncture wounds.

Police were told a group of people stole cash from the man.

Following extensive inquiries, shortly before midday yesterday (Monday 22 June 2026), detectives executed a search warrant at a unit on Anne Street, South Tamworth, where they seized nail strips for a nail gun and electronic devices.
