Police probe robbery in South Penrith

Police are investigating an armed robbery and assault of two people at South Penrith overnight, NSW Police say.

About 9.30pm today, police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics were called to Smith Street after receiving information that two males were allegedly assaulted and threatened with a firearm.

The men have told police they were approached by several men in a silver Ford Falcon sedan before being assaulted and robbed of mobile phones and credit cards.

Nearby residents assisted the two men after hearing the disturbance in the street and the other men left in a car.

One of the victims was treated for a suspected fractured jaw. Both men were taken to Nepean Hospital and treated for their injuries.

A short time later the men attended a service station on Mulgoa Road at Regentville where they have further committed a robbery on the console operator.

Police believe both incidents are connected and are appealing for assistance.

Investigations are continuing.
