Police probe sudden death in Cairns North

Police are appealing for information after a death of a man in Cairns North this morning.

At about 12:30am on May 17, Cairns police located a man laying on the side of the road on James Street in Cairns North.

Police approached the man and observed that the he was unresponsive.

A short time later Queensland Ambulance Service arrived and assessed the man and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man (pictured below) has been identified as 50-year-old Scott Howard from Cairns North and is described as Caucasian, about 170cm, slim build, two distinct medium sized tattoos on both shoulders and has short dark hair.

He was last seen wearing blue denim shorts, black Nike shoes and was walking with a small folding shopping trolley.

Police have conducted door knocks in the surrounding houses and have spoken with members of the public in the immediate area.

Police are further seeking any member of the public who may have seen Scott walking from Balaclava Road in Earlville at 10pm to James Street at 12:30am to please contact police.
