Police probe sudden death in Southport

Police are investigating after the body of a 61-year-old man was discovered at a Southport unit this morning.

Police were called to the Barney Street unit around 7.30am, after management of the complex discovered the body of a male-tenant following a welfare check.

The unit was declared a crime scene just before 8am.

Investigations continue to determine the cause of the man's death and there is no further information available at this stage.
