Police pursuit leads to woman charged in Queanbeyan

A woman has been charged with driving offences after a short pursuit in the Southern Tablelands, NSW Police say.

Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Lanyon Drive, Queanbeyan West, about 11am today (Wednesday 22 November 2017).

It will be alleged the officers detected a BMW travelling 110km/h in an 80km/h zone. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however it continued to along Lanyon Drive, at a speed of 155km/h.

A short time later, the BMW struck the gutter, and continued to drive in the wrong direction along Canberra Avenue, where it came to a stop near the roundabout.

As police approached, the BMW rolled back and allegedly struck the police car, causing only minor damage.

The driver, a 22-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where she was charged with not stop police pursuit, dangerous driving, drive whilst disqualified, exceed speed, resist police in the execution of duty and registration offences.

The Calwell woman was granted bail and is due to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday 8 January 2018.
