Police release CCTV after house fire at Berkeley

Police have released CCTV footage as they investigate a house fire in the Illawarra, last week.

About 12.45am on Friday (5 January 2024), emergency services were called to reports of a house well alight in Kelly Street, Berkeley.

Fire and Rescue NSW responded, putting out the blaze, but the home was extensively damaged.

No one was at home at the time and there have not been any injuries reported.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District attended and established a crime scene, which was forensically examined.

Detectives established Strike Force Palmyra to investigate the cause of the fire.

As inquiries continue, police have now released CCTV footage of a vehicle they are seeking to identify.

Police want to speak to the occupants of the vehicle or anyone who may have seen a white sedan, with a distinctive sunroof, in nearby Rhondda Street, around the time of the fire.
