Police require assistance to identify injured cyclist

Police from Warrnambool Highway Patrol are investigating a collision in which a cyclist was seriously injured in Warrnambool yesterday (24 December), Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told a silver Toyota sedan was travelling south on Morris Road when it collided with the cyclist at the intersection of Hoddle Street about 8.45pm.

The yet to be identified cyclist has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The male driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Investigators have not been able to establish the identity of the injured cyclist.

The cyclist is a man believed to be in his 30s with olive skin, medium build, black hair, a moustache and goatee.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a baseball cap, black shorts, black shirt with white stripes along the arm and was riding a black ‘Chopper’ bicycle.

Investigators have released images of the man’s bicycle and various tattoos in the hope someone recognises him.

The investigation remains ongoing.
