Police responding to fatal motorcycle crash at Mayfield

At around 11:55pm on Thursday 4 October 2019 Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Fire Service have responded to fatal motor vehicle accident in Lawson Street, Mayfield.

A 24 year old Newnham man was riding a motorbike along Lawson Street when he has struck the rear of a parked, unattended truck. Attempts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

At the time of the crash the man was not wearing a helmet, nor any other riding safety gear. The bike did not have a headlight and was unregistered and not insured.

Investigations into the crash are continuing and anyone who may have seen the crash is encouraged to contact Northern Crash Investigation Services.

The name of the male has not yet been released.
