Police Responding To Fatal Traffic Crash At Purga 25 February

A man has died in a traffic crash at Purga this afternoon.

Investigations indicate at 1.05pm a station wagon was travelling west on the Cunningham Highway when it collided with a truck travelling in the opposite direction.

The station wagon then spun into the path of a dualcab ute which had been travelling behind it.

The driver and sole occupant of the station wagon, a 28-year-old Paddington man, died at the scene.

Two passengers from the ute were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The drivers of the ute and truck were not physically injured.

The truck was carrying cattle and due to the crash and fire that followed, a number of animals had to be euthanised.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
