Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Booyal

A man has died, and two people have been transported to hospital following a traffic crash in Booyal this afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate around 4.20pm, a Ford Falcon travelling south on the Bruce Highway collided with a Toyota Landcruiser travelling north.

As a result of the collision, an 81-year-old North Isis man driving the Falcon was declared deceased at the scene.

A 45-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital and a 16-year-old girl was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway was closed until 9pm with SES diverting traffic.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
