A man has died in a two-vehicle crash on the Sunshine Coast overnight.
Initial investigations suggest around 8pm a sedan was travelling west on Obi Obi Road in Mapleton when it collided with a marked police car travelling in the opposite direction.
The 44-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The male officer, who was the sole occupant of the police vehicle, was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The police vehicle was a marked Hyundai Santa Fe SUV and was routine patrolling at the time of the crash.
