Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Townsville

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic crash at Townsville earlier tonight.

Just after 7.30pm, a car attempted to turn out of a driveway onto Ross River Road when it struck a five-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle along the footpath with his father.

Members of the public rendered first aid prior to the arrival of emergency services.

Paramedics transported the boy to Townsville Hospital where he sadly passed away a short time later.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward to police.
