Forensic Crash Unit are investigating, following a two-vehicle traffic crash in Yatala this morning, 14 March.
About 3am a brown Mazda CX7 has travelled southbound in the northbound lanes of the M1, colliding with a white Kia Sportage head on.
The driver and sole occupant of the Kia, a 44-year-old woman, was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the Mazda, a 28-year-old man, was also transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has footage to come forward.
M1 Northbound at Yatala is still closed. Traffic is being diverted onto Computer Road.
Investigations are ongoing.
