Police Reviewing Disappearance of Long-Term Missing Person Barry Calvert

Tasmania Police is reviewing the disappearance of long-term missing person Barry Calvert.

Barry was last seen in Launceston, Tasmania, on 17 April 1963.

At the time of his disappearance, Barry was:

  • aged 25 years
  • about 175-180cm tall, of slim build, and of fair complexion
  • a soldier in the Australian Army based at Paterson Barracks in Launceston.

Sergeant John Delpero from the Tasmania Police Missing Persons Unit, said "Initial investigations suggested that Barry may have moved interstate and/or changed his name."

"As part of the review into the disappearance of Barry, an age-progression image has been developed which depicts what Barry would look like today."

"A missing person case is never closed until the person is located - we hope that releasing this age-progression image may assist us in locating Barry."
