The search has recommenced this morning for a 20-year-old man who disappeared while swimming off Main Beach yesterday evening, 3 March.
Around 6.30pm, emergency services were called after a male tourist was reportedly struggling in the water off Braker Street.
Witnesses attempted to assist the man but lost sight of him in the water.
Police attended and searched the area using multiple assets including Water Police vessels, jetskis, PolAir, SSUV Beach Rhinos and foot patrols, in conjunction with surf life savers.
The search had to be suspended at 8.30pm last night due to lack of light, but recommenced at first light this morning, 4 March.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the missing swimmer is urged to contact police.
