Police are appealing for public assistance to locate missing Ferntree Gully woman Carol who has Alzheimer's disease.
The 86-year-old was last seen leaving a care facility on Underwood Road shortly before 2pm today.
Police and family have concerns for Carol's welfare due to her medical condition and age.
Investigators have released an image of Carol in the hope that someone recognises her and can provide information on her whereabouts.
Carol is described as Caucasian, about 165cm tall with long white hair.
She was last seen wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, brown pants, black shoes and glasses.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Knox Police Station on (03) 9881 7000.
