Police seek information after man threatened with Samurai sword at Tamworth home

Police are appealing for information after a man was threatened with a Samurai style sword during an aggravated break-in in the state's north last week.

Shortly before 1am on Friday (21 May 2021), a 31-year-old man was at home on Garden Street, West Tamworth, when he was confronted by two unknown men.

Police have been told the occupant was threatened with a Samurai style sword and a kitchen knife, before retreating to a bedroom and closing the door.

The unknown men attempted to gain access to the room, hitting the door and surrounding walls with the weapons, before leaving the house.

The occupant was not physically injured.

Officers from Oxley Police District were notified and attended the scene.

As investigations continue, police appeal for anyone with information – including CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the offence – to come forward.
