Police seek information after Melton West armed robbery

Brimbank Embona Taskforce investigators are appealing for public assistance after a man was robbed at gunpoint in Melton West last month.

Investigators have been told the male victim was walking south on Coburns Road, near the intersection of Highfield Way, when he was approached by a man riding a BMX bicycle about 3.30am on Tuesday 21 April.

The man, who was not known to the victim, initially asked for directions before circling around the victim on his bicycle.

The offender then stopped in front of the victim and pulled what appeared to be a handgun out of his jacket.

He made demands for the victim's mobile phone, headphones and jacket.

The victim handed over the property and the offender rode off southbound on Coburns Road.

The 26-year-old Melton man was not physically injured during the incident.

Police have released a digital composite image of a man they believe could assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be Caucasian, aged in his 20s with short curly ginger hair. He was wearing a dark puffer hooded jacket with the hood over his head at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
