Police seek information as two houses burnt within minutes at Moree

Police are appealing for information after two houses were destroyed by fire within minutes of one another in the state's north this morning.

About 9.13am today (Monday 16 September 2019), emergency services responded to reports of a house fire on Adelaide Street at Moree.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

Shortly later at 9.20am, emergency services responded to reports of a second fire at a vacant house on Moreton Street at Moree.

Officers attached to New England Police District alerted neighbours and maintained traffic, while fire crews extinguished the fire.

Both houses were completely destroyed.

Police established a crime scene and were assisted by New England Detectives and the Moree Target Action Group as a canvass of the area was conducted.

The cause of the fires is not yet known however both have been deemed suspicious.
