Police seek information: Assault occasioning bodily harm, Capalaba

Police are appealing to the public for information in relation to an incident of stealing and assault which occurred at a Capalaba shopping centre on Friday March 11.

Police were called to the Moreton Bay Road shopping centre just before 6pm, where a 54-year-old Birkdale man was located with bruising and cuts to his face.

Initial investigations indicate the victim had approached a man he had seen leaving a store in possession of items he made no attempt to pay for.

An altercation has occurred in which the man repeatedly punched the 54-year-old causing him to fall to the ground where he was kicked several times. The man then ran from the scene.

The 54-year-old man was treated in hospital for facial injuries.

Detectives are releasing CCTV of a man they'd like to speak to in relation to the incident.

He's described as in his late 20's to early 30's, Caucasian in appearance, approximately 172cm tall with a slim build and brown hair.

At the time of the incident he was seen wearing grey shorts, thongs and a black shirt which was later removed.

Police are urging anyone who recognises him or has information in relation to the incident to come forward.
