Police seek information: Homicide investigation, Koumala

Detectives are appealing for information as part of an ongoing investigation into the suspected homicide of a woman at Koumala.

About 2.30pm on August 29, the body of a woman was located during a search operation for a missing person in the area.

While the woman's body is yet to be formally identified, police believe it is that of 31-year-old Rene Latimore who was reported missing from the Koumala area on August 18.

A crime scene has been established and detectives from the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit are investigating.

Based on initial investigations, the death is being treated as suspicious.

Investigations are continuing, including an extensive forensic examination of the crime scene.

Additionally, police are appealing to anyone who had interactions with Rene prior to her disappearance that may be able to assist with investigations, to come forward.
