Police seek information on Vehicle fire in Katherine

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after two vehicles were destroyed by fire in Katherine overnight.

Just prior to 11.00pm, Police received reports of a car fire on Victoria Highway in Katherine South. Two vehicles were fully engulfed. As a precaution, residents in an adjacent block of flats were safely evacuated from the building.

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service contained the fire and no other property was damaged.

Constable Kylie Dutton said, "Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no reason for public concern, however we are calling for witnesses to come forward".

Anyone with information, CCTV or mobile footage of any unusual activity in this area between 10.30pam and 11.15pm, is asked call police on 131 444 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference 9862471.
