Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information after an unknown substance was poured over a section of Flemington racetrack on Melbourne Cup Day.
Detectives believe the offenders broke into the Flemington facility and made their way onto the track before they poured an unknown substance over the grass about 6am.
Investigators have released a computer generated image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
They have also released an image of a distinctive trailer with a large tank, hose and pump used during the incident.
