Police Seek Missing Wollongong Teen Girl

Police are appealing for assistance to locate a teenage girl missing south of Sydney.

Sophie Lyons, aged 12, was last seen in Wollongong about 2.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 29 October 2025).

When she could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Wollongong Police District were notified and immediately commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Police and family hold serious concerns for her welfare due to her young age.

Sophie is described as Caucasian appearance, 150cm, medium build with long red hair.

She was last seen wearing a blue jumper, black pants, blue joggers and carrying a black back pack.

Sophie is known to frequent the Wollongong and Sydney CBD areas.

Inquiries have established that she was seen exiting Central Railway Station towards Chalmers Street, Surry Hills, about 8.30pm yesterday.
