Police seek owner of war medals

Brunswick police are keen to reunite a rightful owner with some war medals that turned up in the pockets of a donated jacket, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told a black suit jacket was donated to a Savers store in Sydney Rd, Brunswick sometime after Anzac Day.

Three medals were found inside one of the pockets of the jacket and have since been handed in to police by a good Samaritan.

The medals appear to be from World War II, however there is no engraving, which suggests they may either belong to a European soldier or are replicas of medals awarded to an Australian soldier.

Investigators have released an image of the medals in the hope someone may recognise them.

Anyone with information or who may know the owner of the medals is urged to contact Brunswick Police Station on 8378 6000.
