Police are releasing details of a vehicle of interest in a homicide investigation underway in Dargaville this month.
Investigators are continuing to piece together what led to 64-year-old Garry Hazelton's death on 7 October.
Today, the officer in charge of the investigation is releasing details of a small hatchback seen in the area prior to Mr Hazelton's death.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer, of Whangārei CIB, says the vehicle is described as being similar to an early 2000s Nissan March.
"This was described as being silver in colour and had been around the Hoeroa Street area in Dargaville," he says.
Police want any information or sightings of this vehicle between 5pm on Monday 5 October until 5pm on Wednesday 7 October.
An image similar to the vehicle of interest is being released, though Police note this is not the specific vehicle itself.
"If you have seen a vehicle like this in that area and have any information about that vehicle or its occupants, I ask you to come forward," Detective Senior Sergeant Pilmer says.
"Our investigation is continuing into Mr Hazelton's murder at his property on Hoeroa Street, and the detectives remain motivated to identifying anyone responsible and holding them to account."
